Our Story
In 2002, after the culmination of almost a decade of homophobic bullying, and growing up in a community that did not want to accept me, I attempted to take my own life. It took a long time to overcome these challenges and tell my story to others.

After teaching for almost 20 years, I realised that while things are better for a lot of young people, there are still too many facing daily abuse, bullying and social exclusion. In 2022, I made the decision to leave teaching and to support schools, charities and businesses with LGBTQ+ inclusion. With the increasing financial challenges that schools face it has become more apparent that schools need support to implement this important work.

Whilst the overwhelming majority people are supportive of this work, there are those who are not. In 2023 I was the focus of a Facebook group where they wrote some pretty disgusting stuff, but amongst them was written: "He's not even a qualified teacher, all he does is bring queer". And so came the idea of Bring Queer. These people are exactly the reason why this work is so important and as well as a way of supporting schools, it's also a middle finger up to those vile people who make this world a less inclusive place.

Every purchase from the store goes towards us providing books, training, resources and workshops to schools to help make schools a more inclusive place. Find out more about our work and how you can get involved at www.morethanflagsandrainbows.com
